Healthy Start Coalition of Sarasota County Welcomes New Executive Director
January 14, 2013 (Sarasota, FL) — It is with pleasure that The Healthy Start Coalition of Sarasota County, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, announces its new Executive Director, Shon Ewens. The Healthy Start Coalition provides professional services for pregnant women, infants and new families in Sarasota County to prevent low birthweight, prematurity, and other possible poor health and developmental outcomes.
Shon joins the Healthy Start Coalition after almost three years as Executive Director of the Literacy Council of Sarasota. In addition to her work at the Literacy Council, Shon has 12 years of extensive managerial and executive level administrative experience working for YMCAs in Tampa, Sarasota, and Birmingham, AL. Her many accomplishments include strategic planning, community partnerships, fundraising, grantwriting, and volunteer management. Shon’s educational background is in Human Development and Family Studies.
The Healthy Start Coalition staff, Board of Directors, service providers, community partners and clients extend our heartfelt gratitude to Jennifer Highland, outgoing Executive Director, for her thirteen years of service to the pregnant women, infants and young children of Sarasota County. In her last week as Executive Director, Jennifer shared the Florida Department of Health’s 2012 Maternal Child Health Analysis Report, which showed Sarasota reporting better than expected outcomes in infant mortality, low birth weight, and teen pregnancy—concrete evidence of her strong tenure here and the hard work of the people she brought together on her Healthy Start Team.
Please join us in welcoming Shon to lead the Healthy Start Coalition of Sarasota County! For more information please contact The Healthy Start Coalition at (941) 373-7070, or email Shon at firstname.lastname@example.org.###
