Sound Beginnings

The Florida Grade-Level Reading Campaign and the Lastinger Center at the University of Florida have developed Sound Beginnings – Early Language Development: Best Practices for Early Care and Education Providers! Sound Beginnings Ambassador for Soar in 4, Shelly Dorfman will present this as a Two-Part Series on May 18th from 2:00 to 3:30 pm and May 25th from 2:00 to 3:30 pm to early learning providers, parents, and caregivers as part of the Healthy Start Coalition of Sarasota’s Parenting Series.

This training highlights key concepts related to oral language development and includes the following information:

  • Why do early language experiences matter?
  • How does early language development impact future outcomes?
  • What do we do?

Early childhood is a period of great opportunity. It is a time when educators and caregivers can help build the foundation for advanced social and cognitive skills through rich language interactions. This engaging training will include videos developed by the Lastinger Center at the University of Florida that are helpful to share with parents and fellow teachers.

Please join Soar in 4 and Shelly Dorfman for this new three-hour, virtual training to learn more about early language development best practices!
