Let’s talk about Childhood stress:

Taking a deeper dive into ACES, the impact of trauma, and resiliency. Jennifer Gravesen and Kerri Deatherage, School Based Mental Health Therapists at The Florida Center for Early Childhood, will have a discussion about the effects stress can have on children and how parents and teachers can identify these signs. They will explore the impact of early childhood trauma, stressful life events, the toll the pandemic has taken on the financial and emotional well-being of families as well as academic and social pressures within the school. Teachers and parents will gain a better understanding about incorporating trauma informed care into their daily routines.

Jennifer Gravesen BS MA is a Certied Clinical Trauma Professional who has been working with children and their families for the past 12 years, with a focus on trauma and the child welfare system. She is passionate about trauma-work and has a background in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, incorporating mindfulness into sessions.

Kerri Deatherage BA MA is currently a school-based mental health therapist working with elementary school children. Her passions include learning about how trauma continues to shape our lives and interactions. She continues working to educate teachers and parents on mental health and advocate for children in a school setting.
