Dr. Washington Clark Hill Endowment Fund
Dr. Washington Hill has been an absolute champion of the Healthy Start mission here in Sarasota County. In honor of his amazing accomplishments and with deep appreciation for his great achievements here and across the country, we have created the Dr. Washington Clark Hill Endowment Fund in partnership with the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation.
Our goal is to raise at least $80,000 that will be matched dollar for dollar by the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation.
This vital fund will provide Healthy Start with investable assets at the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The earnings will be used to expand the current Save My Life Program and include Spanish-speaking availability (with the potential to serve about 50 families a year). We will also source additional maternal/fetal well-being community opportunities and support any other identified needs.
Here are some of the reasons we want to honor Dr. Hill!
- Dr. Hill is also well recognized for the Save My Life Program. This program was developed as a community-driven solution to the growing racial disparities and health care inequalities in birth and health outcomes in Sarasota County. The Save My Life Program is a free, culturally sensitive education and support program for women of color in Sarasota.
- Dr. Hill has been a true advocate and passionate advocate for access to care, with a understanding of what Safe Sleep means.
- He continues to support CYESIS (a program for school-aged parents that is segregated for expectant mothers and students with children, both male and female, administered by the Sarasota School District).
- He is playing a vital role in the search for ways to fight the Opioid crisis and all substance use in the pregnancy and help prevent the substance exposed neonate.
