Quit Smoking for Your Baby

Did you know?

Quitting smoking can make a huge impact on the health of your baby!

Babies that are exposed to the chemicals in cigarettes in the womb or after birth are more likely to have health problems. You are also at a higher risk of having a miscarriage or stillbirth.

Some of the health problems can include:

  • asthma and other breathing problems
  • birth defects (cleft lip or palate)
  • childhood leukemia

Smoking during pregnancy can also cause babies to be born too early or too small. This can cause lifelong health, learning, and behavior problems.

There is never a better time to quit than right now! You have the power to change your habit and give your child the gift of health!

If you are pregnant and would like help quitting contact the Healthy Start Program at (941) 861-2905 for help accessing FREE services.
